This is a 8.5-9mm gem quality akoya strand. Any strand at this level of quality requires tens of thousands of pearls sorted in order to get even a single matching strand. 
 
This size bracket is in the first rarity jump that akoya pearls experience due to the physical size of the mollusk that produces the pearl. 
 
MOLINE Gem quality represents less than .05% of all Akoya production at any size. In this quality at sizes above 8mm, only 20% of the production that remains will be above 8mm (above 9mm, only 3%)  -- oftentimes, these strands become available in miniscule quantities that MOLINE can purchase only one or two of any size per year; any Akoya pearls in singles or pairs at this quality represent something special -- full necklaces are a true heirloom treasure.
